What is the Old Blaydonian Association?

The society was re-established in 1987 following Blaydon Comprehensive's successful 75th birthday celebrations, with the aim of strengthening links between the school and its former pupils and staff. The society was launched at the end of a successful campaign against Gateshead council's plans to close the school and transform it into a western Gateshead sixth form centre. Within a few short years the society was at the heart of a sadly ultimately unsuccessful campaign to save the school once more in the face of further reorganisation plans.

Membership of the Old Blaydonian Association is open to all those connected to the schools. Membership fees are low and enable the association to continue its work and cover the costs of periodic events, the printed newsletter and the costs associated with maintaining this website.
